We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App depends on the content and materials you use, and includes:
a. Personal Data You Provide to Us:
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in using Google, we may receive your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by Google, in accordance with your Google privacy settings.
- Video Notes: We collect and store the YouTube video URLs/IDs you provide and the notes you create and associate with these videos.
b. Data from Third-Party Services:
- Firebase Authentication: We use Firebase Authentication for user login and account management. Firebase may collect certain information as described in their privacy policy.
- Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, we will receive access to certain information from your Google account, such as your email address and public profile information, as permitted by Google and your privacy settings.
- YouTube Data: When you provide a YouTube video URL, we may fetch publicly available information about that video (such as title and thumbnail) to display within the App. The `youtube-transcript` library is used to fetch publicly available transcripts.
c. Usage Data:
We may automatically collect certain information when you access the App, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and the pages you have viewed directly before and after accessing the App. This information is typically collected by our hosting provider (Firebase App Hosting) and is used for analytics and to improve our service.

Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the App to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Store and display your video notes and associated YouTube video information.
- Enable you to organize and access your notes effectively.
- Respond to your requests and provide user support.

- Notify you of updates to the App.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties except as described below:
- Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work (e.g., Firebase for database hosting, authentication, and app hosting). These service providers are obligated to protect your information.
- By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
- Business Transfers: We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
Your video notes are considered private to your account and are not shared publicly by us unless you explicitly use a feature within the App to do so (Note: current YNotes functionality does not include public sharing features).
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data, including your notes and account information, is stored and processed on servers provided by Google Cloud Platform (via Firebase). We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
5. Your Data Rights and Choices
You have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access and Update: You can access and update your account information through your account settings (if applicable) or by contacting us. You can view and edit your notes directly within the App.
- Deletion: You can delete individual video notes from within the App. To request deletion of your entire account and associated data, please contact us at support@projectmanagers.net. We will process your request in accordance with applicable law.
- Firebase and Google Account Settings: You can manage the information Firebase and Google share with us by adjusting your settings on their respective platforms.
6. Third-Party Services and Websites
The App uses services provided by Google (Firebase, Google Sign-In, YouTube). This Privacy Policy does not apply to the third-party online/mobile store from which you install the App or make payments, including any in-app virtual items, which may also collect and use data about you. We are not responsible for the data collected by any such third party. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Firebase Privacy and Security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
7. Google API Services User Data Policy
YNotes’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This means that any data obtained via Google APIs (such as through Google Sign-In) will be used solely to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in YNotes’ user interface and will not be transferred to others unless necessary for security purposes, to comply with applicable laws, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets with explicit user consent. We will not use this data for serving advertisements.
YNotes offers a feature that allows you to import information about videos you have “liked” on YouTube into your YNotes account. This section details how we handle data related to this feature.
YouTube Data and “Import Liked Videos” Feature
a. Scope of Data Access (Google OAuth –ย youtube.readonly
)ย
To use the “Import Liked Videos” feature, you will be asked to authenticate your Google account and permit YNotes to access certain YouTube data. Specifically, we request theย https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly
ย scope via Google’s OAuth 2.0 system.
This scope grants YNotes permission to:
- View your YouTube account’s list of liked videos (including their titles, video IDs, and thumbnails).
This scope does not grant YNotes permission to:
- Modify your YouTube account in any way (e.g., like or unlike videos on your behalf, upload videos, change your settings).
- View or access any other Google service data (e.g., Gmail, Google Drive) associated with your Google account.
b. How We Use Your YouTube Liked Video Data
If you grant consent, YNotes will:
- Retrieve a list of your liked videos from YouTube.
- Display this list (thumbnails and titles) within a dialog in the YNotes application.
- Allow you to select which of these liked videos you wish to “import” into YNotes.
- For the videos you select to import, YNotes will store the video ID, title, and a reference to its thumbnail. This information is then treated as part of your YNotes data, as described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, allowing you to take notes and organize these videos within our service.
We do not store your complete list of liked videos from YouTube persistently unless you choose to import specific videos. The list is fetched and displayed for the purpose of selection during the import process.
c. User Control and Revoking Accessย
You are in full control of the data shared with YNotes.
- Selective Import:ย You choose which videos from your liked list are imported into YNotes.
- Revoking Access:ย You can revoke YNotes’ access to your YouTube data at any time through your Google Account security settings page (usually found atย https://myaccount.google.com/permissions). If you revoke access, YNotes will no longer be able to fetch your liked videos for future imports. Data for videos already imported into YNotes will remain in your YNotes account unless you choose to delete them from within YNotes.
d. Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy YNotes’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services UserData Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use the accessed data solely to provide and improve the “Import Liked Videos” feature for you within the YNotes application.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold if applicable in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website (if applicable) and updating the “Last Updated Date” at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
