The Perfect Gantt Chart View for Trello

We are pleased to announce that Bridge24 now offers Trello users a highly requested feature: the Gantt Chart view for Trello. With this view, you can easily create a timeline of any activity across all Boards using any date field as a punctual date or as start and end dates. The best part is that the Gantt Chart view is incredibly flexible, allowing you to dynamically filter and adjust your view as needed.

Trello Gantt Chart View Usage

Traditionally, Gantt charts are used in project planning to track task progression by scheduling and rearranging them based on start and end dates. However, Trello lacked a “Card Start” date until recently, which posed a challenge. To address this, we at Bridge24 developed our Gantt view to allow users to select any date field, including custom fields, for use as the start or end date. This was done before the new start date field was released in Trello.

Gantt Chart View Settings

To use the Gantt chart view, set the start and end dates or a single punctual date for each item, and they will appear on the Gantt chart. The view allows for grouping and sorting by Board or Board and List, with the ability to collapse and expand to focus on specific cards. The extent of the date range is indicated by a bar above each grouped list. Columns in the Grid section can be shown or hidden, and the size of the grid and Gantt can be adjusted by dragging the division line.

Other Options for the Gantt

Bridge24 offers dynamic filtering to quickly find the information you need by adding a search term or creating a proper filter. Milestones and date bars are displayed for cards with end dates, and they can be modified by dragging and dropping. To apply changes, click the Refresh icon. The Action menu provides access to card-related actions and can be accessed by hovering over a card in the Grid section.

Exporting your Trello Gantt to PDF

To export your Gantt chart view as a PDF, click on the PDF icon located at the top left of the view. However, please note that there is a maximum chart dimension that can be exported, and if exceeded, a message will be displayed. To avoid this issue, filter your view to ensure that it fits within the acceptable dimensions.

Conclusion

The Trello Gantt chart view is essential for project planning and management. It allows users to easily track and visualize task progression, set start and end dates, and dynamically filter and adjust their view. Users can quickly identify specific cards and easily monitor progress by grouping and sorting by Board or Board and List.

Additionally, the Gantt chart view supports exporting to a PDF, allowing users to share project timelines and progress reports with others. Overall, the Trello Gantt chart view is an indispensable feature for any Trello user looking to streamline their project management and stay on top of deadlines.
